About Japanese Flowering Quince
Lower and more spreading than common flowering quince, with the same very early flowers on bare thorny wood. The hard green fruit is inedible raw but makes excellent jelly. Flower buds form on the previous year's growth, so prune straight after flowering or you cut off next spring entirely.
