About Hyacinth
Few spring bulbs carry scent this far. The trade-off is that the fat first-year spikes are top-heavy and often flop, and by the third year the flowers thin out to something much looser and, to most eyes, better looking. Plant six inches deep in well-drained soil; the bulbs rot in wet ground. The skin irritates, so wear gloves when handling quantities.
