About Celosia
Stiff, almost artificial-feeling flower heads that deer generally avoid, in colours nothing else in the garden offers. It is a heat plant and the commonest mistake is planting it out too early. Celosia sulks in cold soil and, once checked, often never grows properly at all: it flowers small and stops. Wait until the soil is genuinely warm, well after the last frost date rather than on it. Full sun, decent drainage, and no particular feeding. It dries well, holding both colour and shape better than most, which is the traditional reason for growing the crested types.
