Is Blue Mist Shrub deer resistant?
Caryopteris clandonensis

About Blue Mist Shrub
Blue flowers in late summer when almost nothing else is out, and aromatic foliage that deer walk past. Cut it hard in spring, down to about a foot, because it flowers on new wood. Leaving last year's growth gives you a woody sprawling plant with flowers only at the tips. This is also why autumn pruning is a mistake: the old stems protect the crown over winter. Wait for it in spring. Caryopteris breaks late, often not until May, and every year people dig up plants that were merely still dormant. Sharp drainage and full sun. Wet winter soil kills it more often than cold does, which is the usual story for Mediterranean-type shrubs in the north.
